The Monad blockchain is designed to tackle the scalability and performance limitations of existing systems like Ethereum. It maximizes throughput and efficiency while preserving decentralization and security. Its architecture is composed of different integrated components: the Monad Client, which handles consensus and execution. MonadBFT, a consensus mechanism derived from HotStuff. The Execution Model, which leverages parallelism and speculative execution, and finally MonadDB, a state database purpose-built for Monad.
